Cosmic American Derelicts: The Twain Shall Meet

Lighthouse Keeper

Forty years I've been a lighthouse keeper
And I weathered the wind, rain, and snow
When I was young there was this seƱorita
Who stole my heart and ran off with my soul

I sit here every day watchin' the tides roll and sway
Standing here I see the waves crash on the stone
I signal ships out there on the horizon
Where is my ship to come and take me home?

Well she told me that nothing lasts forever
And the best things must all come to an end
Couldn't stand the thought of life without her
So I opened the door and locked the lighthouse gate

I sit here every day watchin' the tides roll and sway
Standing here I see the waves crash on the stone
I signal ships out there on the horizon
Where is my ship to come and take me home?

Time won't heal these painful wounds inside me
They just remind me of the things that I've done wrong
Every day is just a sad and lonesome day
And every night I wish that I had never known
And every night I wish that I had never known
